Why it matters over time. Muscle mass and metabolic efficiency decline with age, which is what drives weakness, insulin resistance, and fat gain. Protein intake and the cofactors that turn food into energy are the levers that slow it.
System 02
Brain & Cognitive
Memory, focus, and processing speed. Polyphenols from matcha, wild blueberries, aronia berries, and turmeric support brain health and protect cells from oxidative stress. Carotenoids from colorful vegetables provide antioxidant protection. Iron supports oxygen transport to the brain.
Why it matters over time. Memory, processing speed, and executive function shift with age, driven by cumulative oxidative stress, inflammation, and changes in neurotransmitter activity. Antioxidant intake is one of the few modifiable inputs.
System 03
Cardiovascular & Circulatory
Flexible vessels, steady blood flow, balanced lipids. The brain and the heart draw on the same vascular system, so what keeps blood vessels flexible serves both. Omega-3 fatty acids from flax and chia support heart health. Plant sterols from seeds support healthy cholesterol balance. Fiber supports cardiovascular health as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol. Potassium supports healthy blood pressure already within a normal range.
Why it matters over time. Vascular stiffness, endothelial dysfunction, and cholesterol imbalance compound over decades, and they degrade nutrient delivery everywhere else in the body.
System 04
Digestive & Microbiome
Regularity and a well-fed microbiome. Different fibers feed different bacteria, so six whole food sources reach a broader range of them than a single isolated fiber does. Fiber supports healthy blood sugar levels already within a normal range and promotes satiety.
Why it matters over time. Microbial diversity narrows when fiber intake falls short, which is the ordinary case on a Western diet. Most adults get roughly half the fiber recommended for their age and sex.
System 05
Immune & Cellular Defense
Normal immune response and cellular resilience. Zinc supports normal immune cell activity. Selenium and vitamins C and E help protect cells from oxidative damage. Beta-glucans from whole maitake and shiitake mushrooms support normal immune cell activity.
Why it matters over time. Immune efficiency falls with age while chronic low-grade inflammation rises. That combination raises susceptibility to infection and slows recovery.
System 06
Skeletal & Structural
Bone strength, joint function, mobility. Calcium, vitamin D, vitamin K, and magnesium work together to support strong bones, and all four arrive in the same meal rather than four separate supplements. Manganese supports bone formation and connective tissue. Protein supports the skeletal muscle that protects joints.
Why it matters over time. Bone mineral density and joint integrity decline with age, raising fracture risk and cutting mobility. The four bone nutrients depend on each other, which is why they are worth getting together.
